Authorising a Nominee

This arrangement authorises a person to act on your behalf when dealing with Centrelink and can also be authorised to receive your Centrelink payments.

Please note: Nominee arrangements do not apply to ABSTUDY.

You can authorise another person to handle your business with Centrelink on your behalf. This person is called a 'nominee'.

Nominee arrangements authorises someone to act on your behalf when dealing with Centrelink and can also be authorised to receive your Centrelink payments.

Nominee arrangements are usually voluntary and can be cancelled at any time by contacting Centrelink (unless the arrangement is legally enforced, for example a court appointed arrangement).

Authorising a person to deal with Centrelink for me

You need to fill in an 'Authorising a Person or Organisation to enquire or act on your behalf' form, and return the completed form to your nearest Centrelink Customer Service Centre. You can telephone Centrelink on your main payment or service telephone number and ask for this form to be sent to you or you can download this form below.

Authorising a Person Permitted to Enquire

This arrangement authorises a person or organisation to make an enquiry only on your behalf.

Please note: A Person Permitted to Enquire is not a Nominee arrangement.

You can authorise a person to enquire on your behalf in relation to your payment and decisions regarding your payment. This arrangement does not authorise someone to act on your behalf or to receive your payment.

Authorising a Group Payment arrangement

You can also authorise your Centrelink payment to be paid to an institution.

Please note: A Group Payment arrangement is not a Person Permitted to Enquire or a Nominee arrangement.

Centrelink pensioners living in an institution (such as a nursing home, hospital or hostel) may want their pension payments paid directly to that institution. You can be living there indefinitely or permanently. This is a Group Payment arrangement, not a Nominee or PPE (Person Permitted to Enquire) arrangement.
